It’s both the name of a cheesy 80’s hit, and what LSU is getting these days. Computer Love. In the minds of human voters in both the AP and Coaches poll, a 7 point victory over Ole Miss at home wasn’t enough for LSU to hold its number 5 ranking. Wisconsin jumped The Tigers in both polls on the strength of a 20 point beat down at Michigan and a ridiculous (quasi disrespectful) 83 point offensive outburst the week before.
The BCS was a different story. LSU maintained is number 5 ranking in the BCS, which is a poll less about cosmetics and more about who you’ve played and who you’ve beaten. At this point in the season, the BCS is really all that matters. If the Tigers wants to stay in the conversation for a BCS bowl, their position in that poll is paramount. Being number 5 also means that if there is some sort of 2007-esque meltdown, LSU might be able to sneak back into the National Title picture.
