Yesterday the Baton Rouge Police Department searched the home of LSU quarterback Jordan Jefferson for evidense relating to the late Thursday night fight in the parking lot of the local Baton Rouge bar “Shady’s”. BRPD’s Sgt. Don Stone confirmed police were then currently searching Jefferson’s apartment.
According to Sgt. Don Stone there was enough evidence uncovered in the ongoing investigation to constitute probable cause for the search:
“We have gathered enough probable cause to search for information to help either prove or disprove the allegations against him”
A DNA swab has been taken from Jefferson who was at home when officers showed up with a search warrant. Dozens of pairs of shoes were remover from Jordan’s apartment and will be used to try to match with DNA evidence. There was a footprint on the shirt of one of the four alleged victims, presumably shoe pattern will be compared against it.
This ongoing saga is something that I truly didn’t believe at first, and didn’t want to report on. There was a media frenzy at first, with very little information to go on. There’s been a lot more of the story that has surfaced since early Friday morning, and none of it looks good for the 2011 LSU Tigers football season.
As a former student of LSU and a proud follower of LSU sports, I am very disappointed in the team members that took part in this regrettable incident, but must now take my lumps along with the fans, the school, and the innocent players who weren’t involved.
I won’t enjoy the opinion pieces I will have to do before all this is put to rest, but I’ll do my best to be honest and fair, as well as objective.
