12 days and counting

Football season cannot come soon enough; it has been 224 days since LSU walked off the Superdome field with a devastating loss to a bitter rival Alabama in the BCS Championship game. I know the players as well as the fans are ready for this season to get underway so we can all try and put that game behind us.

The LSU players who were apart of that game will play this season with a different chip on their shoulder, because of the tremendous success and then sudden failure in the biggest game of the season the players have to prove to themselves as well as their coaches and fans that the BCS game was merely a bad day at the office.

The team is only twelve days away from the first game of the season which kicks off Saturday September 1st at Tiger Stadium in Baton Rouge, Louisiana kick off time is set at 6pm CT the game will air on ESPNU as well as the radio broadcast on 98.1 the river.

Despite losing Tyrann Mathieu on defense the Tigers still have a number of outstanding playmakers. Look for Sam Montgomery and Barkevious Mingo to make a huge impact on the defensive line for the tigers this season. Eric Reid and Tharold Simon will be ready to answer the call to help lift the defensive backs to yet another great season. LSU has produced back-to-back Thorpe award winners in Patrick Peterson and Tyrann Mathieu; hopefully one of these guys will be receiving that same award at the end of this season.

The offense for the Tigers can only improve from last season. With a seemingly better pocket passer than the Tigers have seen since the days of Tommy Hodson LSU will look to setup the pass with their devastating rush attack. All four guys return in the backfield, which will help LSU rotate guys in and out to keep fresh legs on the field. Spencer Ware, Michael Ford, Alfred Blue, and Kenny Hilliard will provide the powerful punch in the run game that Coach Miles and LSU love so much.

Everyone in Baton Rouge is ready for this season to start, we just cant wait to be able to go out and tailgate all day Saturday and enjoy watching the Tigers run out of that tunnel with 90,000 of your closest friends and family and we will all be ready to roar.
