LSU’s Tyrann Mathieu plans to enroll into school at LSU on Tuesday told by his adopted father Tyrone to ESPN’s Joe Schad.
Although he will not be able to play football this season he is focusing on his academics and the family supports his decision. When asked if Mathieu would ever play for the Tigers again his mother replied, “Yes”.
Mathieu has spent the days between being kicked off the team and today at the Right Step recovery center in Houston, Texas. Mathieu has received help there and has been working very closely with former NBA player John Lucas. Lucas and Mathieu will continue to stay in touch through text and phone calls.
Mathieu had considered switching to an FCS school such as McNeese State or Nicholls State but instead decided to stay in Baton Rouge and focus on school.
Tyrann Mathieu will be eligible for the NFL in 2013. Mathieu was the nations best defensive player last season. He was a playmaker but as you saw Saturday against North Texas that LSU does have a lot of very talented players.
I did notice that no defensive player has decided to take on the coveted #7 defensive back number maybe it is out of respect, maybe it is because his teammates feel he will be back at LSU.
Whatever it is I know Tiger fans will support the Honey Badgers return if in fact he does the right things to earn his way back onto the field.
