Les Miles Reinstates Jeremy Hill

Sophomore running back, Jeremy Hill, was reinstated by coach, Les Miles, after a team vote. Hill was originally suspended from the team after he was involved in a bar fight that was video taped back in April. (click to see the fight) Jeremy Hill was already on probation for having sexual relations with a fourteen year old girl back in high school. After the judge made the decision to only extend his probation, Miles allowed the team to vote on Hill’s reinstatement. What team wouldn’t vote for their star tailback to rejoin the team? At the end of the day the players want to win. To them it doesn’t really matter what Hill did, just how he can better their chances of winning.

Hill was a vital asset to the Tiger’s running attack last year. He led the team with 755 yards on the ground and 12 trips to the end zone. Hill will be extremely important in week one against TCU, who was ranked 10th in the nation at stopping the run in 2012. TCU coach, Gary Patterson, was extremely frustrated with how the Jeremy Hill situation was handled. TCU suspended 2012 Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year,  Devonte Fields, for two games for violating team policy. Coach Patterson spoke out against the situation.

My Whole team would vote Devonte to be back on the team because they all want to win. That doesn’t teach life lessons.

I am sure if it was some opponet they’d beat by 100 points LSU players wouldn’t have a vote. It’s not my worry. I’ve got to play whoever they put on the field.

Allowing a team vote to reinstate Jeremy Hill will most likely benefit the tigers immediately, due to his remarkable on field performance. However, it has a good possibility of having a long term negative effect. Les Miles has had several players with a major lack of discipline, Tyrann Mathieu and Ryan Perilloux just to name two of the biggest incidents. With Miles giving all his players countless chances, they don’t have a fear of punishment. Miles is the head coach at one of the top football schools in the country. He needs to stop being everyone’s friend and start taking control of his team.
