One of the top targets for the LSU Tigers will make his first official visit this weekend when Clifton Garrett (Plainfield, Ill. Plainfield South) visits Florida for the Gators game vs. Tennessee. The five-star outside linebacker is the No. 1 ranked player at his position in the 247Sports composite rankings and considered a strong LSU lean.
The 6-2, 228-pound Garrett visited LSU for the Tigers’ spring game April 20 and immediately soared to the top spot for his services.
“They are still my top team,” Garrett tells Shea Dixon. “I really fell in love with things on my visit for the spring game. I got to see the campus and meet the people, and more importantly meet the coaches and players. That was great for me. I’m excited about going to see everything. I still have some top schools behind LSU that aren’t far off. Everyone is still in it, and right now I don’t know what will happen. I just know LSU is my top team heading into everything.”
Garrett has officials scheduled for Tennessee October 5th vs. Georgia, October 18th for Ole Miss when they host LSU, and will visit LSU for the Texas A&M game on November 23rd. He has one official visit yet to schedule which potentially could go to USC or Oregon who has been a late mover in his recruitment.
Tennessee is in second place, so perhaps an upset by the Vols Saturday night gives Garrett more reason to consider Butch Jones’ team, but all signs point to Garrett being a Tiger when he announces his decision at the U.S. Army All-American Bowl January 4th.
However, if Garrett may love LSU so much he commits prior to the All-American Bowl and ends the suspense and commits to Les Miles, John Chavis and the rest of the LSU family before Christmas.
