LSU Tigers Remain at No. 6 In AP Top 25

After beating the Auburn Tigers in their SEC opener Saturday night the LSU Tigers remained at No. 6 in the AP Top 25 but moved up to No. 6 in the USA TODAY Poll. Although I’d have LSU at No. 3 based on how well they have played in the first month of the season.

LSU looked dominant in the first half against Auburn as they ran out to a 21-0 lead behind the efforts of Jeremy Hill and cruised to the victory although Les Miles didn’t like how the team finished.

With none of the five teams in front of LSU playing any sort of stiff competition with the lone exception of Stanford playing a then ranked Arizona State team, so there was little opportunity to climb the rankings after this weekend.

Alabama remained at No. 1 with Oregon behind the two-time defending champions, although they did receive some more first-place votes despite being idle this week. Clemson sits at No. 3 in the AP Poll with Ohio State right behind them after the Buckeyes put up 76 points over Florida A&M. Ohio State is third in the USA TODAY Poll while Clemson is fourth.

Stanford holds onto their spot at No. 5 in both polls.

LSU’s upcoming opponent, the Georgia Bulldogs sit at No. 9 in the AP and No. 10 in the USA TODAY Poll.

The SEC has five teams in the top 12 in the AP top 25 and seven overall.
