The LSU Tigers have been busy on the recruiting trail in addition to preparing for their game at the No. 9 Georgia Bulldogs and could be getting closer toward a commitment from one of the top cornerbacks in the nation.
According to Shea Dixon of Geaux247 who is as plugged into the world of LSU recruiting as anyone at 247 Sports has a note on the pursuit on five-star recruit Tony Brown (Beaumont, Texas. Ozen) which should be music to the ears of Tiger’s fans.
“I am also told that following his second visit in two weeks, things are really warming up with Tony Brown. A couple people I spoke with said they get the feeling that Brown is going to commit to LSU during the regular season instead of holding off until January.”
The nation’s No. 3 corner in the 247Sports composite rankings and the number one recruit in the talent rich state of Texas is also the No. 10 overall player in the class of 2014 has been a strong LSU lean dating back to 2012. LSU hosted Brown first in the summer of 2012 for a summer camp and the 6-0, 188-poind corner has subsequently been back five more times according to his timeline on 247Sports.
Brown is also one of the top track performers in the nation and has Olympic aspirations. His older sister is on the track team at LSU. He has 191 tackles, four interceptions and defended 30 passes over the last two seasons. Alabama, Texas A&M and Texas are among the near 30 offers for the elite recruit who could be much closer to being a part of the LSU family than originally anticipated.
It’s no wonder why Brown would want to come to LSU considering the recent track record of developing corners for the NFL. Morris Claiborne, Patrick Peterson, Tyrann Mathieu are former LSU corners who are already experiencing success early in their NFL careers and looks like Brown could one day join that elite fraternity.
