The biggest stat in this game that won’t show up in the box score is the sheer dominance of the Georgia offensive line which is manhandling the LSU defensive line which is a big surprise to me. The Bulldogs have a veteran line and a strong ground game, but I’m surprised by how well they have taken out impressive Tiger tackles Ego Ferguson and Anthony Johnson so far in the first 30 minutes.

And Georgia is awfully happy with that:

Conversely, the LSU offensive line is getting blown back by the Georgia front seven and stopping LSU running backs in the backfield and making it difficult for Hill to find any kind of running room. Hill is the reigning SEC offensive player of the week after 184 yards on the ground last week vs. Auburn, but so far he has been stifled.

If LSU can’t get any production on the ground, then they are going to be in trouble the next 30 minutes vs. Georgia. The Tigers need to keep pounding the rock and not abandon the run game and sooner or later they will wear down Georgia’s line and open it up for Mettenberger to find Landry or Beckham on a play action pass.
