The opening betting lines are out, and LSU is only a 9.5 point favorite over Mississippi State on the road. The game will be played in Davis Wade Stadium, but it is still shocking the Tigers are not favored by more in this matchup.
Mississippi State enters the game with a 2-2 record. The Bulldogs began their season by being blown out by Oklahoma St. in Houston. They never could get their offense going and only managed three points, losing 21-3.
Mississippi State throttled a FCS opponent in week two before losing a heartbreaker on the road to Auburn. Vegas must have been impressed by their week four performance. The Bulldogs picked on a far weaker opponent blowing out Troy 62-7. One victory against a sub-par opponent and all their problems are fixed? Vegas is looking way too into their most recent performance and not at how they have played all season.
LSU has played well this season, flying through their first four games with little difficulty, then they ran into Georgia. Georgia completely shut down the LSU running game. The Tiger defense was atrocious and they still almost managed to come away with a victory.
The LSU offense is looking better than it has in a long time. Things are really clicking offensively in Cam Cameron’s new system. The offense has been hard to stop and it does not appear that Mississippi State is going to have any success shutting them down.
LSU’s defense looked awful against Georgia, but Mississippi State doesn’t exactly have the same caliber of offense that Georgia has. Mississippi State should score points but the LSU defense will come up with some key stops.
Vegas is focusing too much on LSU and Mississippi State’s last games. This game should be extremely lopsided. Mississippi State is no Georgia and LSU isn’t exactly Troy. Vegas got this one wrong LSU will win convincingly.
