Odell Beckham Jr. Has Career Day for LSU Against Mississippi State

The dynamic duo was at it again on Saturday. Jarvis Landry and Odell Beckham Jr. accounted for 17 of Mettenberger’s 25 completions and 275 of his 340 yards. Beckham and Landry had more receiving yards between the two of them than the entire Mississippi State team. The best receiving duo in the country played exceptionally on Saturday, and helped the Tigers to a 59 to 26 thrashing of Mississippi State.

Grade: A+

Jarvis Landry seemed to be playing through pain against the Bulldogs. After several plays he was spotted limping. However, a slightly injured Landry is still better than most collegiate receivers. He had eight catches for 96 yards, including several impressive grabs.

Landry could not find the end zone snapping his streak of seven straight game with a touchdown reception. His streak is tied with Dwayne Bowe for the longest in LSU history.

Odell Beckham Jr. was the star of the game. He put together the best receiving game of his career. Beckham set career highs in both receptions with nine and receiving yards with 179. He caught two touchdown passes, including one with seventeen seconds left in the first half to give the Tigers the lead for good.

Saturday it was all about the Tiger duo. No other LSU receiver had more than 21 receiving yards on the night, but that has been common place this season. Landry and Beckham played well enough to earn the receivers an A+ for the game. The duo will be able to prove if they can excel against the best of the best as they take on the Florida defense next week.
