The Florida Gators had their hands full taking on the No. 10 LSU Tigers at Tiger Stadium, but that challenge of upsetting the home team is going to be much more of a chore after losing starting running back, Matt Jones with a knee injury.
Jones had a sleeve on his left knee and did not have his helmet. Tracy Wolfson said on CBS no further information was available as Florida does not reveal injury information, so his return is questionable at best, but I’d suggest it’s closer to doubtful. Jones had four carries for 17 yards before leaving with the injury.
In his absence Mack Brown and highly touted freshman, Kelvin Taylor will fill the shoes of Jones for the Gators. Taylor came to Gainesville as one of the top running back recruits in the nation after a sensational prep career. He is the son of former Florida running back, Fred Taylor, but has not been a factor in the first five games of his college career.
Taylor has been inactive in three games and has just three carries for two yards in SEC games, but will need to grow up quickly in Jones’ absence in a hostile environment.
