LSU Tigers Drop to No. 13 in AP Top 25

The stage was set for LSU to climb a spot or two in the AP Top 25 with either Florida State or Clemson guaranteed of losing as the two undefeated ACC teams were set to kickoff an hour after the Tigers kicked off against Ole Miss. However, as soon as you start to make plans that’s when things go haywire and that’s what happened in Oxford and across college football this past weekend.

More than half of the AP Top 25 lost this week giving this week’s poll a radically different look compared to what we saw last week when LSU moved up four spots to No. 6. Clemson, Louisville, Texas A&M, South Carolina and UCLA joined LSU as teams in the top 10 of last week’s poll to drop their games this week and subsequently drop in the polls.

Here is the top five.

  1. Alabama Crimson Tide
  2. Oregon Ducks
  3. Florida State Seminoles
  4. Ohio State Buckeyes
  5. Missouri Tigers

Here is the complete AP Top 25. The SEC dropped from a record eight teams the previous week to six in the top 25 with FLorida and Georgia dropping out.

LSU plays Furman next week in a in a tune up game before having a bye the following week before traveling to Alabama to take on the No. 1 ranked team in the country. LSU would love nothing more than spoiling Alabama’s chances as a national title if they can’t win one themselves.
