LSU Tigers at Ole Miss Reactions, Recaps, Stats and News

It was a crazy weekend in college football as we saw five teams in the AP top 25 fall victim to the opposition and LSU was not immune to the upset bug that was going around this weekend, especially in the SEC. The LSU Tigers fall 27-24 on a last second field goal by Ole Miss kicker Andrew Ritter to drop LSU to 6-2 (3-2 SEC) with Furman up next.

Here is a collection of reactions, recaps, stats and notes from the game:

The LSU defense we saw one week earlier vs. the Florida Gators did not make the 345 mile trip north from Baton Rouge to Oxford and now we have to wonder if that was a result of a non-existent offense from the Gators more than the LSU defense coming together.

Another big concern is the play of Zach Mettenberger who for the past eight quarters has looked like the quarterback we saw in 2012. His first half at Vaught-Hemingway was a nightmare as Tiger fans kept pinching themselves hoping they’d wake up and it would be over.

Sunday night was supposed to be an exciting night with the first BCS rankings of the season and LSU was supposed to be in the top 5-8, but after Saturday’s loss, Les Miles and LSU will have to reevaluate their goals for the rest of the season.

The two biggest goals are still in play though as LSU can still beat Alabama and Texas A&M.
