It’s always an adventure anytime Les Miles is in front of a microphone and his weekly press conference on Monday afternoon could have provided some fireworks after what transpired Saturday evening in Oxford, Miss.
However, there were not many fireworks as Miles continued to take the bullet for the upset loss to the Ole Miss Rebels.

One area Miles hopes to see improvement each week throughout the rest of the season is a return to the glory days of past LSU defenses where there was a certain aura of confidence or as Miles puts it, “swagger.”
“One thing about this program and the teams that I’ve been fortunate to represent, they have all had great confidence and swagger, and they go out and they play within the scheme, within the play that’s called with great confidence and with great ability. That’s all they needed to do. If they would have done that on Saturday, we’d all be very fortunate.” [Source: ASAP Sports]
Although there are areas for improvement–many areas–including 3rd down defense, when LSU plays up to its capabilities, there isn’t a team that they can’t beat and an area Miles thinks will help keep this team motivated despite two early losses.
“Motivation has never been an issue with my team,” Miles said. “They are in a lesser position than they could be today and they recognize it.” … “This team has the ability to win and play against any team remaining on our schedule and we need to recognize that. Frankly, that’s what gets me up and sends me to the building every day.” [Source: TigerBait]
Despite two early losses, plenty of football is still left to be played and the players are excited to get back on the field–especially a number of freshmen–and to get back to playing LSU football vs. Furman.
