Jarvis Landry needed to step up and make some big plays in the second half with Odell Beckham sidelined with a hip contusion that kept him out of the game, and the LSU wide receiver did just that late in the fourth quarter with this acrobatic reception.
The catch was an important one as it moved the Tigers into field goal range to draw the score closer for LSU who trailed by six at the time and narrowed the margin to 27-24. However, the play did come as a cost as LSU quarterback, Zach Mettenberger injured his left knee on the pass and did not return to the game.
He was seen on crutches on the sideline and as soon as we have more information on the extend of the injury, we will let you know. In his absence, Anthony Jennings came in and led the Tigers on a 99-yard drive that ended with a 49-yard touchdown pass to Travin Dural with 1:15 remaining to put LSU up 31-27.
The Tigers went undefeated for the year at Tiger Stadium for the 15th time and if not for the amazing catch by Landry, that may not have been possible.
