LSU Commit Kevin Toliver II New No. 1 Recruit for Class of 2015

Two days after helping lead Trinity Christian to the FHSAA class 3A state championship with a 34-7 win over Clearwater Central Catholic, LSU commit Kevin Toliver II was named as the top recruit in the class of 2015 according to the 247sports composite rankings.

The 6-2, 180-pound cornerback from Jacksonville, Fla. committed to the Tigers Nov. 11, 2012 and has been compared to former LSU All-American Patrick Peterson who also hailed from Florida.

Toliver is still checking out other schools and hearing their pitch with still more than a year until his signing day with both the Florida Gators and Florida State Seminoles in the picture. When ESPN.com’s Derek Tyson asked Toliver about the Seminoles he clarified his commitment to LSU while also expressing an open mind to the process.

“Yeah I’m interested, I’m always going to be open,” Toliver said about Florida State’s interest in him. “We’ll just see what happens when signing day comes, we still have another year. I’m still 110 percent committed to LSU though.”

His impressive combination of superior coverage skills and the ability to play physical in run support moved him past offensive tackle Mitch Hyatt (Suwanee, Ga. North Gwinnett), and if he maintains his status as the top player in the nation and LSU is able to secure a commitment from Leonard Fournette, LSU will have successfully recruited the top players from 2014 and 2015 classes.
