With Mack Brown expected to step down after 16 years as the head coach of the Texas Longhorns, one of the top jobs in college football will be open with some of the biggest and best names in the industry attached in one way or the other to the job.
Nick Saban, Jimbo Fisher, Jim Harbaugh, Urban Meyer and Mike Tomlin are some of the names mentioned in recent reports from Horns247 and Orangebloods.com this week, but on Tuesday night’s SportsCenter, ESPN College Football Insider, Brett McMurphy speculated that LSU head coach Les Miles could be a guy Texas “might go after.”
ESPN mentioning #LSU‘s Les Miles as a potential alternate candidate for Tex. job if opens. Seems unlikely, but people say same about Saban.

McMurphy says Texas certainly has the resources to go after whoever they want, but its a bigger question if some of these names they are pursuing decide to leave their current gigs. In regard to Miles, I don’t think he would be a target of Texas unless they strike out on the five aforementioned names.
Miles has had the opportunity to head north to his alma mater on two occasions to coach the Michigan Wolverines and he’s turned down their overtures. This would be the only job I could even fathom Miles leaving LSU for, so even if Texas comes calling, I’d expect he says thanks but no thanks and gets a nice extension and raise from LSU.
