In what could be a recurring theme this basketball season, LSU forward Jordan Mickey has been named the SEC freshman of the week for the second time this season.

Mickey scored 25 points on 9-13 shooting in the Tiger’s win over Louisiana-Monroe which matches the high point total for an LSU player this season. Mickey also chipped in nine rebounds, one assist and four blocks.
The 6-8 Arlington, Texas native has exceeded expectations in his freshman season at LSU and is developing into perhaps the Tiger’s best player when it was believed in the offseason he may not even be the team’s top freshman with highly touted Jarell Martin on the roster.
Mickey has yet to be held below 10 points this season and ranks third in the SEC in field goal percentage (.578) which has boosted his points per game to 14.8. Mickey is fourth in the conference with 8.8 rebounds per game and sits third in minutes played per game at 33.2.
Mickey and LSU are on the road at the Texas Tech Red Raiders on Wednesday where they’ll look to improve to 7-2.
