Now that Mack Brown is officially no longer the head coach of the Texas Longhorns after stepping down on Saturday and Nick Saban is no longer an option–if he ever was in the first place–LSU head coach Les Miles has had his name linked in connection with the job opening in Austin.
ESPN’s college football insider Brett McMurphy said, “Miles could be a guy Texas might go after.” However, Coach Miles doesn’t wanna give that any wheels.
Miles asked about Texas opening. “Let’s not get my name into that.” #LSU

Well there you have it. The next head coach of the Texas Longhorns won’t be Les Miles. This probably comes as a relief to some of the Texas fans I saw around the internet who don’t want Miles anywhere near Austin. Never mind the fact he has been one of the most successful coaches in college football during his reign at LSU.
Whether or not the linking of Miles to Texas had any wheels to it outside of McMurphy speculating on SportsCenter is not known, but we do know Texas is looking at the best of the best and coaches with championships on their resume, which Miles has on his.
The coaching search in Austin is sure to take on a life of its own as they look for Brown’s successor after 16 years at Texas, but one thing for certain is it won’t include “The Hat” as I think many of us all presumed.
