LSU has gotten a few practices under their belt in advance of the New Year’s Day meeting with the Iowa Hawkeyes in the Outback Bowl from Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Fla. and Tiger’s head coach Les Miles likes what he’s seen from his club, but also likes what he’s seen from Iowa on film.

“In all three phases, they are a very sound football team,” Miles tells the Quad-City Times. “They are quicker than people think and big, strong.”

I’ve heard from a number of fans who are hoping that LSU won’t take this Iowa team lightly and dismiss them because they’re form the Big Ten conference or because they haven’t been as successful in recent years under Kirk Ferentz, but I think this quote form Miles will alleviate some of those concerns.

You can watch the Outback Bowl on ESPN at noon central time on Jan. 1 with Mike Tirico, Jon Gruden and Lisa Salters on the call.
