The recruitment for five-star safety Jamal Adams (Carrollton, Texas. Hebron) took a couple twists and turns as they often will, but LSU was never perceived to be at the forefront of the No. 2 safety in the 247SPorts composite rankings until late November.
At the Under Armour All-American Game, Adams committed to LSU and the Tigers move up to the No. 7 class in the country.

After his announcement he said he’s ready to go win some national championships.
Adams took visits to LSU on back-to-back weekends, including driving through an ice storm form Texas to Baton Rouge after his flight was cancelled. The interest began to grow considerably over those two weeks where his friend and LSU commit and fellow Texas safety, Edward Paris sold him on the Tigers.
The Texas Longhorns originally were the favorites for Adams, then it was the Florida Gators where his Godfather, Joker Phillips is a coach and the Ole Miss Rebels were in the picture as well, but as each week passed in December it became clear that the 6-0, 200-pound free safety was heading to LSU.
Adams had 79 tackles, one interception, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery on defense this year. He also added five rushing touchdowns, nine receiving and two more touchdowns on kickoff returns.
He is ranked as the No. 27 recruits overall in the 247Sports composite rankings, the No. 2 safety and the No. 4 player in the traditionally talent-rich state of Texas.
Look for Adams to do his part to continue the legacy of LSU being ‘DBU’ over the next four years.
