In a move that was expected since spring practice started LSU junior defensive tackle Anthony Johnson has declared for the 2014 NFL draft. Johnson had an up-and-down junior season, but finished his career with an impressive game in the Tiger’s win in the Outback Bowl over Iowa.
These last three years at LSU have been good to me but I have made the decision to enter the 2014 NFL draft @nfl .

Johnson entered the season with a first round projection, but as a result of his inconsistent play and the rising of other players he has slipped to the middle of the second round range. He currently ranks No. 44 on Todd McShay’s rankings and has been seen as low as a third round pick on some early mock drafts.
The 6-2, 300-pound Johnson possesses excellent athleticism and quickness which has led to his being nicknamed “The Freak” and could be one of the fastest risers in the draft evaluation period when he works out at the NFL combine in February and at LSU’s pro day this spring.
He finished 13th on the team in tackles this season and was largely outplayed by fellow junior tackle Ego Ferguson who is also expected to declare for the draft.
