LSU Tigers vs. South Carolina Gamecocks: preview, live stream and prediction

The LSU Tigers began the season extremely strong, starting 9-2, including going 9-1 after dropping the season opener. However, the Tigers have have been slumping recently having lost their last two, including an 18-point loss at the hands of the Tennessee Volunteers on Tuesday.

LSU will try to snap their losing streak as they head to Columbia to take on a South Carolina team that has been struggling all season.

South Carolina is just 7-7, but they were riding a four game winning streak before losing to Florida on Wednesday.  The game begins at 12:30 CT on ESPN3 or you can watch the live stream here. You can also click here to listen to the game live on the Geux Zone.

The Gamecocks typically spread out their production among several players, but if you have to name the best player for South Carolina it would be senior guard Brenton Williams. He is second on the team in scoring, trailing the leader, Tyrone Johnson, by only .6 points a game.

Williams shoots a better field goal percentage, but what is the most impressive is his accuracy from the charity stripe. Williams has taken thirty free throws this season and has yet to miss. LSU will need to keep from fouling him as it is basically giving away an automatic two points.

Expect Jordan Mickey to have a huge game, due to the Gamecocks having passive big men. South Carolina does not have a single player that averages at least six rebounds a game. The Tigers are favored by three, but I believe that a strong performance by Johnny O’Bryant and Mickey will help LSU win by double digits.

Final Prediction: LSU goes on the road and knocks off South Carolina 68 to 54.
