Russell Gage (Baton Rouge, La. Redemptorist) committed to the LSU Tigers today over the Tulane Green Wave giving LSU its 19th commitment for the class of 2014.

The three-star athlete took an official visit to LSU last weekend and committed to offensive coordinator Cam Cameron when he came by for an in-home visit.

“This is something I dreamed about and prayed about for a while now,” Gage said. “I knew LSU was where I wanted to go, so I waited for an offer. Once I got it, there was no question about what I’d do. It really is a dream come true for me.”

At 6-0, 185-pounds Gage projects at either wide receiver or cornerback at LSU, and it was his ability on both sides of the ball at LSU’s camp in July that opened the eyes of LSU coaches after being without any scholarship offers as a junior.

Ranked as the No. 764 recruit overall, No. 60 athlete and No. 28 recruit in Louisiana, Gage is a sleeper prospect who is starting to come into his own and is a good candidate to redshirt as a freshman as he learns the nuances of his position, which is going to initially be at cornerback.

He attended the same high school as former LSU running back Jeremy Hill and current left tackle La’el Collins.
