Kenny Young (New Orleans, La. John Curtis) was a player LSU fans had their fingers crossed for on national signing day as it looked like the Tigers were not going to be able to land the four-star inside linebacker and as Young made his decision at his high school, those feelings were confirmed as Young committed to the UCLA Bruins.
The 6-2, 220-pound Young went on a whirlwind of official visits after his high school season ended and it looked like LSU had an uphill battle on their hands for a player who was determined to leave the state for college. UCLA won out because of his relationship with UCLA coach Jeff Ulbrich where he hopes to lead UCLA to a national championship.
Adding Young would have been a nice get for LSU because you never want to let the state’s top talent go elsewhere when you pursue them, especially to a team within your own division, but LSU has five-star linebacker Clifton Garrett already signed.
He is ranked as the No. 175 player overall and No. 7 inside linebacker according to the 247Sports composite rankings.
