National Signing Day 2014: Malachi Dupre commits to LSU Tigers

Malachi Dupre (New Orleans, La. John Curtis) was the biggest target on the board for the LSU Tigers on national signing day and

Despite being a frequent visitor to LSU during the last year and perceived to be a strong LSU lean, there was still reason to be nervous with Florida State and UCLA in the picture making the decision one many in Tiger Nation waited with  bated breath.

When Dupre, the nation’s No. 17 recruit overall and the No. 2 wide receiver according to 247Sports announced his decision let out a big round of applause for Dupre who donned a purple LSU hat where he felt it was right to stay in state and bring a championship to LSU.

The Under Armour All-American was the player LSU could ill afford to lose today as he can compete for a starting position with the departures of Jarvis Landry and Odell Beckham, Jr opening up two spots in the lineup.

At 6-3, 190-pounds, Dupre possesses the necessary speed to be a No. 1 wide receiver and has drawn comparisons to former Tiger Rueben Randle. Dupre’s hands, ball skills and leaping ability are unmatched in this year’s class and should be a special player to watch for the next 3-4 years in Baton Rouge.
