Now that the hoopla that comes with national signing day has come and gone with the LSU Tigers finishing with the nation’s No. 2 recruiting class according to all major recruiting services, it’s time to shift our attention to the former Tigers who are attempting to be drafted as high as possible in the 2014 NFL Draft.
Today, 11 former LSU players were invited to the NFL combine held in Indianapolis on Feb. 19-24. Only the Alabama Crimson Tide had more players invited. Notre Dame and Florida State had nine and Stanford had eight.
Here are the 10 to represent LSU grouped by position and ranked in no particular order in reference to their pre-draft ranking:
- Zach Mettenberger-quarterback
- Jeremy Hill-running back
- Alfred Blue-running back
- J.C. Copeland-fullback
- Odell Beckham Jr.wide receiver
- Jarvis Landry-wide receiver
- Trai Turner-offensive guard
- Ego Ferguson-defensive tackle
- Anthony Johnson-defensive tackle
- Lamin Barrow-linebacker
- Craig Loston-safety
Of the 10 invited to the combine, only Mettenberger, Barrow and Loston did not have any eligibility remaining. Mettenberger is still recovering from his surgery to repair the torn ACL he suffered in the win vs. Arkansas so he won’t be able to workout, but he can interview with teams and they can evaluate his recovery.
