LSU will hold their pro day on April 9 in the team’s indoor facility, the school announced Monday. The LSU pro day will consist of seniors and the seven who left early to enter the NFL draft are all expected to take place in the event one month prior to the 2014 NFL Draft.
The NFL combine is later this month with 11 former LSU players invited to the pre-draft event to workout and interview with NFL teams in Indianapolis. Depending on the performances of the Tigers at the combine, the pro day could serve as a prime opportunity to cement their draft status or make up for their showing at the combine.
For example, Odell Beckham Jr.and Jarvis Landry are expected to be the first LSU players selected in the draft, both are projected as first round picks, so if they run well at the combine they may elect to sit on those numbers at the pro day.
Conversely, if Jeremy Hill runs a less-than-stellar 40, then he undoubtedly would run at the pro day where his time would assuredly be a tick better.
The player with the most to gain at the pro day could be rehabbing quarterback Zach Mettenberger. He will be unable to workout for teams at the combine, but with a few extra weeks potentially could be able to do some drills for the NFL teams in attendance.
There have been reports his rehab is ahead of schedule so teams will want to monitor his health before investing a 2nd or 3rd round pick on him.
The pro day takes place four days after the school’s spring game on April 5 at Tiger Stadium.
