One of the top quarterback prospects will not be throwing at the 2014 NFL Combine when the top signal-callers participate in their on-field workouts, but unlike Johnny Manziel and Teddy Bridgewater, former LSU Tigers quarterback Zach Mettenberger won’t be throwing because he’s recovering from his torn ACL.

However, there is good news to report for the classic pocket passer who will be able to throw for NFL teams on April 9th and the Green Bay Packers could be a team who drafts him.

The Packers would be an interesting fit because of the presence of Aaron Rodgers who isn’t going anywhere soon, but the Packers could view Mettenberger as a buy-low, sell-high pick with Mike McCarthy’s ability to develop quarterbacks.

For example, they could take Mettenberger in the fourth round and flip him for a second round pick in two years to a team who is in need of a starting quarterback.

Whether he is available at the fourth is another question, but the point is Mettenberger is progressing nicely in his rehab and will be able to showcase his enormous skill-set and big arm on Apr. 9
