The LSU Tigers (17-10, 8-7 SEC) hope to revive their fleeting NCAA Tournament hopes as they travel to Gainesville for a Saturday afternoon tip with the No. 1 Florida Gators (26-2, 15-0 SEC) on CBS.
The Gators have won 20 straight games and 30 in a row at home so despite clinching the SEC earlier this week after the Kentucky Wildcats lost to the Arkansas Razorbacks, but they still have a lot to play for as they have NCAA seeding to worry about, the same concern that Johnny Jones‘ team has.
However, LSU currently finds them on the outside looking in for an at-large bid for the “Big Dance” so much like last week when LSU had Kentucky on the ropes, a win against Florida would see the Tigers leap at least a handful of teams in their bid for the tournament.
If LSU hopes to snap their six-game road losing streak and pick up their first win against the Gators in their last five games, then Johnny O’Bryant, Jordan Mickey and Anthony Hickey are going to have to play their best game of the year and O’Bryant must stay out of foul trouble.
If the Tigers’ big men can stay on the court and play 34 minutes, then they can be in position to make this a close game in the final minutes. This is undoubtedly the biggest game of the year for LSU and I’m hoping they respond well to the stiff test against the top=ranked team in the country.
