LSU 2017 National Signing Day recap: how did the Tigers pan out?

The 2017 National Signing Day, arguably the most important day of the year in college football, capped off for LSU last night.

And it’s an understatement to say that the team cleaned up nicely by the end of the event.

While the Tigers unfortunately failed to land the much sought-after defensive tackle prospect Marvin Wilson, wide receivers Devonta Smith and Nico Collins, line backer Willie Gay and defensive end Markaviest Bryant the team ended up with a number of great football players.

Perhaps the biggest steal of the day was defensive end K’Lavon Chaisson, who seemed very drawn to the Texas program but ended up going LSU instead. The raw talent will play second fiddle to Arden Key, and likely not see action until the 2018 season.

Other additions of interest that were not exactly predicted before yesterday include inside line backer Tyler Taylor, defensive end Neil Farrell and safety Todd Harris.

Of course the Tigers signed their hard commits among others in quarterbacks Myles Brennan and Lowell Narcisse, running backs Tory Carter, Clyde Edwards-Helaire, guards Saahdiq Charles and Edward Ingram, tackles Austin Deculus and Seth Stewart, safetys Grant Delpit and JaCoby Stevens, defensive tackle Tyler Shelvin, wide receivers Stephen Guidry, Racey McMath and Mannie Netherly, athletes Jontre Kirklin and Patrick Queen, defensive ends Aaron Moffit and Justin Thomas, inside line backer Jacob Phillips and corner back Kary Vincent.

Per 247sports.com, this year’s signing day went down as the fourth best in school history with a composite score of 288.21 points.

Does 2017 National Signing Day go down as a win for Ed Orgeron’s first rodeo? I think so.
