LSU football’s Joe Burrow didn’t become the nation’s best quarterback by a fluke.

LSU football quarterback Joe Burrow, who is expected to be the top selection in the 2020 NFL Draft, made being the best player in the country in 2019 look easy.

But being great is never easy.

Burrow didn’t show up in Baton Rouge, after three years at Ohio State, and become a legend like it was nothing.

The reason Burrow was able to become a great player all comes back to his ridiculous competitiveness.

Sure, most college football players are competitive — it’s usually why anyone plays sports.

But Burrow’s competitiveness is unmatched, at least according to his former teammates.

LSU tight end Stephen Sullivan recently told Bengals.com that anytime Burrow had a bad practice, he’d go into the locker room and just sit and stare. Burrow hated not being at his best.

Tigers longsnapper Blake Ferguson retold a story to Bengals.com about how Burrow, after arriving from Ohio State, “smoked” everyone in LSU’s conditioning tests. Ferguson said that Burrow refused to lose — at anything.

That’s not surprising, considering Burrow went 25-3 as LSU’s starting quarterback in 2018 and 2019.

Burrow’s ultra-competitiveness is what’s going to make him a stud player in the NFL.

There’s no doubt that Burrow will go through some tough times at the next level. If he ends up being selected by the Cincinnati Bengals, he’s going to have to go through a couple of bleak seasons.

Next. LSU did right by Coach O. dark

But that won’t bother Burrow. He just wants to compete and win. And I have a feeling it won’t be long before he’s winning plenty of games in the NFL.
