10 Things we learned about the LSU Tigers in Week 2

8.) The linebacker situation is still fluid. Kwon Alexander only played a few plays before going out with a stinger. D.J. Welter continues to man the inside, but Kendall Beckwith pushes for more playing time each week. We might not know fully about this unit until the end of the year. It’s going to be a work in progress for a while.
Lamar Louis at the other outside linebacker spot hasn’t done much notable. Reserve Deion Jones continues to be a cruise missile with a faulty targeting system. When he makes a play, he looks unstoppable, but there’s still too many occasions where he overruns or misreads a play.
On the positive side, Beckwith’s continual push on Welter has made him a better player. His play so far this year has been much improved over last season. Last year, Welter knew where to be but rarely filled the holes. He’s playing with more intensity and making the tackle close to the line of scrimmage.
