LSU football stands atop the 2016 recruiting rankings, with four-star quarterback commit Feleipe Franks being a large reason why.

Les Miles and his coaching staff have yet again set the LSU football team up to have one of the top recruiting classes in the nation in 2016.

The Tigers currently have the No. 1 ranked recruiting class, according to many recruiting outlets, with 17 total commits. One of LSU’s top recruits, quarterback Feleipe Franks, has been making headlines as one of the best quarterback prospects in the nation, and is currently listed as the No. 1 dual-threat quarterback of the 2016 class, per 247Sports.

Luckily for the Tigers, Franks has been a solid commit to the Bayou Bengals since June of 2014, something he reiterated at the Elite 11 camp in Beaverton, Ore. last week.

As an incoming freshman in 2016, the four-star prospect will look to compete against a stable of LSU quarterbacks, many of whom will have plenty of experience at the collegiate-level by the time he arrives on campus.

Where he needs to improve:

Franks is still learning. He has absorbed a lot of knowledge from various coaches at different quarterback camps and competitions, but he is also a raw talent who still needs to improve his throwing mechanics, footwork and overall consistency.

Furthermore, his throwing motion is quite long. This could prove to be problematic at the collegiate-level, where he will not have as much time in the pocket to throw the ball. Franks has been working on a quicker release, though, and LSU offensive coordinator Cam Cameron should be able to work with Franks on developing a shorter throwing motion that will not jeopardize his ball speed and accuracy.
