No. 1

There were countless eye-opening plays from Leonard Fournette on his way to setting a new school record for rushing yards (1953) and touchdowns in a season (22), and his top play of the year could not even come down to one play. Fournette’s performance against Auburn, a 228-yard, three-touchdown afternoon, put him further ahead in the Heisman Trophy race after just two games. It’s a shame that he did not receive an invite to the Heisman ceremony in December. Just ask the Auburn defense if he deserved one.

This is Fournette at his best, running over defenders while looking like a grown man among children.

Following LSU’s 56-27 Texas Bowl victory over Texas Tech, in which he rushed for 212 yards and four touchdowns (to go along with a 44-yard touchdown reception), Fournette leads the country with an average of 162.8 rushing yards per game.

That average is only over the course of 12 games due to the cancellation of the season opener against McNeese State.

There may not be a trophy on his mantle just yet, but LSU fans can get used to runs like these.
