Freshman Tyron Johnson finished the year with just nine catches, with his first touchdown reception coming during LSU’s 48-20 victory over Western Kentucky. Facing a third-and-15, Brandon Harris escaped pressure and launched a jump ball, which Johnson was able to come down with at the 23-yard line before taking it the rest of the way to the end zone for his first career touchdown.
The play may have gotten lost in such an eventful LSU football season, but the first career touchdown catch for Louisiana’s No. 1 prospect in 2014 flashed the potential of a young star waiting to emerge. Johnson has all the potential to be a big-play receiver for the Tigers in the near future, and plays like this certainly give LSU fans a reason to get excited.
