2016 LSU baseball schedule

The Tigers open up the 2016 season with a three-game series against Cincinnati at Alex Box Stadium from Feb. 19-21. LSU will play 17 non-conference games before opening up SEC play with a three-game weekend series against Alabama starting on Mar. 18.

Following a series with the Crimson Tide, the Tigers will travel to take on in-state rival Louisiana-Lafayette, who finished 42-23 last year, on Mar. 22. It will be the first meeting between the two teams since LSU swept the Ragin’ Cajuns in the 2015 Baton Rouge Super Regional.

Just two days later, Paul Mainieri’s squad will head to College Station for a three-game showdown with Texas A&M, who opens up 2016 as d1baseball.com’s no. 4 team in the nation and favorites to win the SEC West. When the two teams met in 2015, the no. 1 Tigers took two of three from the no. 2 Aggies.

From Apr. 7-9, LSU will host Vanderbilt, the 2014 national champions and 2015 College World Series runner-up. Last time the two teams met, the Tigers picked up an 11-1 win over the Commodores in the 2014 SEC tournament.

After the Tigers host Arkansas on May 6-8, they head to South Bend for a two-game mid-week series against Notre Dame, who finished last season at 37-23.

LSU closes the regular season with a three-game series against the no. 1 Florida Gators, who eliminated them from the 2015 SEC tournament.

Overall, LSU will play 35 games at Alex Box Stadium and 21 games on the road.
