SEC basketball is experiencing a resurgence this season, with seven teams fighting for a spot at the NCAA Tournament.

Typically known for its dominance on the football field, the Southeastern Conference has emerged as a legitimate basketball conference in 2016, displaying an impressive mix of star power and parity.

LSU’s Ben Simmons has firmly established himself as the top freshman in the country and the likely No. 1 overall pick in the 2016 NBA Draft pick, while guards like Jamal Murray and Tyler Ulis have continued the tradition of high-profile NBA prospects to suit up for the Kentucky Wildcats.

More important than the SEC’s elite individual talents, however, is the well-rounded nature of the conference.

With the final stretch of the regular season underway, the SEC has seven teams vying to land an NCAA Tournament bid. Here is a look at the top contenders in the conference, and which ones have a shot to be crowned national champions.
