Derrius Guice

Derrius Guice would likely be much higher on this list, if not for the man-beast named Leonard Fournette, who shares the LSU backfield with Guice.

Together the tandem will form one of the most terrifying rushing attacks in the NCAA in 2016.

Guice established himself as a bruising runner during his freshman campaign, proving himself as viable alternative to Fournette in backfield, as well as, a lethal weapon in the return game.

The Baton Rouge native finished last season with 51 carries for 436 yards and three touchdowns, the most crucial being a 50-yard touchdown blast to help give LSU the lead in its regular season finale against Texas A&M (and probably helping save Les Miles’ job in the process).

His 161 yards versus South Carolina were the sixth most yards in a single game by a true freshman in LSU history.

Guice’s displayed a knack for a tenaciously fighting for extra yardage and refusing to be tackled on runs and kickoff returns. His gritty 25-yard run against South Carolina, where he seemingly broke through tackles from the entire Gamecocks’ defense while getting his helmet ripped off, is the stuff legends are made of down in Baton Rouge.

No. 5 may have to wait one more season before as he assumes to role as chief ball carrier in the LSU backfield, but make no mistake, Guice will make his presence felt in LSU’s offense in 2016.
