Skylar Mays – PG (Findlay Prep)

By most accounts, point guard and Baton Rouge native Skylar Mays is the premier recruit of the Tigers 2016 class. The smooth-dribbling and crafty point guard is a graduate of powerhouse basketball factory Findlay Prep (whose alums include Avery Bradley, Tristan Thompson, and LSU’s own Craig Victor) and was ranked the sixth best recruit in the state of Louisiana.

Mays held offers from several top-flight schools including Memphis, Oregon, and UNLV—but finally recommitted to LSU on September 27, 2015 after having de-committed in June.

He carries himself with the demeanor of a mature point guard on the court and is known for being a solid fundamental passer and floor general who can also pull out the flashy pass when needed. Adept at both getting to the hoop and finishing once there, if Mays can implement a reliable three-point shot then the Tigers may have found their point guard of the future and an all-SEC caliber player.
