Duop Reath – PF (Lee College)

This year’s recruiting class shares a few common themes, and the players in it have some fascinating connections to each other. Like Kieran Hayward, Reath also has close ties to Australia. He was born in Sudan and emigrated to Perth, Australia as a young boy where he became a citizen. Like fellow recruit Branden Jenkins, he made his way to Lee College where the duo played for one of the best teams on the JUCO circuit.

Reath’s comfort when handling the ball on the perimeter is surprising for a 6’10” 220-pound power forward. Even more surprising is his ability to pull up for a smooth-looking jumper or even hit a turnaround off-the-dribble.

While many true college big men would run toward the first guard they saw and dribble-hand off if passed to on the perimeter, it is clear that Reath will be a serious triple threat option. There is a clear role for Duop to step into on the Tigers’ squad following Ben Simmons’ departure, and Tiger fans are eager to see how the top forward in the 2016 JUCO recruiting class will fit in at LSU.
