Wayde Sims – PF (University High – Baton Rouge)

Power forward Wayde Sims was the Louisiana Gatorade Boys’ Basketball Player of the Year in 2014-2015 and brings a sweet shooting stroke and a strong post game to the Tigers’ roster. Slightly undersized (6’6″) for a power forward, he is projected to spend some times at the small forward position and has said that he has been perfecting his ball handling and lateral quickness in preparation for playing a guard role with LSU.

Like several other fellow signees, he also has some interesting connections. Sims’ father was Tiger great Wayne Sims, who was ironically recruited by Johnny Jones (his cousin) when Jones served as an assistant on Dale Brown’s staff.

His Former teammate and best friend at University High in Baton Rouge is none other than Skylar Mays. The two will be reunited in Baton Rouge this upcoming season and look to be an intimidating duo on the hardwood.
