The family of LSU football place kicker Colby Delahoussaye has issued an official statement about their son’s recent car accident.

Delahoussaye was involved in a tragic car crash in Wisconsin last weekend that claimed the lives of two other football players, Nebraska punter Sam Foltz and former Michigan State punter Mike Sadler.

The LSU place kicker suffered second-degree burns to his left leg and received stitches to his head as a result of the accident.

The Delahoussaye family released the following statement regarding the incident, and subsequent support for their family, through LSU today:

"“Our family sincerely appreciates the outpouring of support for Colby since the accident last weekend. The number of calls, emails and text messages that we have received from people throughout the country has been overwhelming and much appreciated. Colby is in good hands with treatment to his injuries and he’s making progress with his recovery.“We ask that you continue to pray for the families of Mike Sadler and Sam Foltz during this very difficult time. Mike and Sam were wonderful young men who Colby had great admiration for. Please keep their families in your thoughts and prayers.”"

Delahoussaye is the Tigers’ presumptive starting place kicker heading into his senior season, after Trent Domingue departed for Texas earlier this summer when his LSU scholarship was not renewed.

The New Iberia native handled LSU field goal and point-after attempts in 2013 and 2014. Delahoussaye has connected on 24-of-29 field goals including 14-of-16 from 30-yards or longer, and is 90-of-93 on extra-point attempts in his career.
