ICYMI: The Golden Band From Tigerland takes on “The Office” Theme Song
By Alex Gomez
There are a lot of really great things about Saturdays in Death Valley, but one of the best things is The Golden Band From Tigerland.
If you haven’t seen the trending video of the Tiger marching band, you probably live under a rock. One of the most epic performances, maybe in history of the band halftime performances, happened last Saturday in Death Valley. Check it out right here:
Under the direction of Dr. Dennis Llinás and associate director Dr. Kelvin Jones, the band set the standard for halftime shows nationally. The bands drum major is Beau Bujol. Known as one of the better bands in the country, it was great to see the 325 member band be recognized for their incredible talent. Here are a couple notable reactions on Twitter:
It is not too often that the band is the highlight of Saturday, but I could not be happier for the members of the Tiger Band. The hard work and dedication has most definitely paid off with the great recognition the program has received. The hours put in over the summer and throughout band camp is as intense as any other sport, and just like anything else that takes that amount of time, the product is well worth it.
It has been a big year for the band, as it celebrates its 125th year as well as 35,000 likes on Facebook. It will be interesting to see how the rest of the SEC responds to try and keep up with the impressive halftime show. With a band of this caliber, it is great to know that there is much talent on the field at halftime as there is during the game.
The support for the band has always been incredible here at LSU, but for those who don’t follow the band you can do so on their brand new app. You can click here to download!
