An opposing defensive coordinator was unsurprisingly very impressed with LSU Tigers quarterback Joe Burrow this season.
Everyone that’s watched LSU Tigers quarterback Joe Burrow play this season has walked away incredibly impressed.
I mean, how could you not?
Burrow’s 2019 season will go down as one of the greatest seasons by a college player ever. Every time I look at his stats from this season I’m absolutely blown away.
And I’ve looked at the stats a bunch (probably too many times, but I digress).
In 14 games this season, Burrow has passed for 5,208 yards while completing 77.6 percent of his passes. He also has tossed a ridiculous 55 touchdowns against only six interceptions.
Oh, and he’s rushed for 311 yards and four touchdowns (what can’t this guy do?!?!).
LSU set multiple records in its victory.

So it shouldn’t be a surprise that opposing defensive coordinators have been dazzled by what Burrow’s been able to do on the field this season.
One unnamed defensive coordinator heaped some incredible praise on Burrow. The anonymous defensive coordinator told The Athletic that Burrow is “elite” and reminds him of Johnny Manziel at Texas A&M in 2012, adding “Burrow is 1,000 percent better than Manziel”.
Manziel’s 2012 was certainly special — mostly because of what he was able to do on the ground — but I don’t think there’s any doubt that Burrow’s 2019 season has been better. The numbers prove it and so does team performance (which is what really matters).
And let’s be honest — Joe Burrow will absolutely be the better NFL player. Burrow has the leadership skills and the natural ability to be a star in the NFL.
Cincinnati Bengals fans should be excited at the thought of their franchise taking him with the first overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft.
