The LSU Tigers will likely add a running back to their 2020 recruiting class….but who?

The LSU Tigers don’t currently have a running back committed to their 2020 recruiting class.

But that will likely change by the time signing day rolls around next month.

LSU has a couple of options in front of them, with one of them being five-star running back Zachary Evans, who was officially released from his signed national letter of intent with Georgia on Tuesday.

(It’s unclear how hard LSU will pursue Evans at this point, given his off-the-field issues.)

For now, it appears that one of the Tigers’ top targets is four-star running back Darvon Hubbard, a 6-foot/195 lb recruit from Surprise, AZ who is rated as the No. 23 running back in the nation (247Sports composite rankings).

Hubbard is an in-demand running back who was previously committed to Ohio State.

The Arizona native has an official visit to Texas A&M planned for January 17.

But he might be checking out Baton Rouge in January as well. Hubbard recently told 247Sports that head coach Ed Orgeron and running backs coach Tommie Robinson plan to visit him in-home after the championship game. Hubbard is also hoping to get an official visit to LSU set up for January.

The versatile running back said Coach O told him he could be the player LSU needs in this [2020] recruiting class.

It sounds like Texas A&M could be the Tigers’ main competition for Hubbard.

But it’s worth noting that Aggies running backs coach Jay Graham is Hubbard’s main recruiter at Texas A&M. Graham, who played college football at Tennessee, is rumored to be in the mix for the Volunteers’ vacant running backs coach job. If Graham leaves Texas A&M, it could leave LSU alone at the top of Hubbard’s list.

LSU’s 2020 recruiting class is currently ranked No. 5 in the nation (according to 247Sports).
