The Rock is one of the most recognizable celebrities in the country, and he’s riding with the LSU Tigers on Monday night against the Clemson Tigers.
Dwayne Johnson, more commonly known as “The Rock”, is one of the most famous people in the world.
And on Monday night, he’ll be an LSU Tigers fan.
Johnson narrated a ridiculously awesome hype video that LSU dropped on Monday morning, which had some folks, mostly outside of Louisiana, confused as to why the The Rock was aligning himself with LSU.

The Rock, after all, played college football at Miami. He doesn’t seemingly have a connection to LSU.
Except that he does. And it’s a big one.
Tigers head coach Ed Orgeron was the defensive line coach that recruited The Rock to Miami in the early 90’s, which is something that Johnson pointed out on Monday morning via Twitter.
Hype video for tonight’s NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP GAME. What many don’t know is @LSUfootball’s head coach @Coach_EdOrgeron was my defensive line coach and early mentor at University of Miami 🙌🏾

He taught me a lot - lessons that I’d finally understand years later as a man. #LetsGeaux pic.twitter.com/17TUioC8wK
In an interview with Sports Illustrated in late 2016, The Rock credited Orgeron with instilling accountability in him at Miami.
Johnson recounted that he once complained about offensive linemen holding on every play and Orgeron replied “are you going to cry about it or are you going to overcome that and make the play?”
Orgeron said in the same interview that he always thought Johnson was “tough as nails”.
The pair has come a long way since their days on the practice field at Miami. The Rock is one of the hottest names in entertainment and Orgeron is one of the hottest names in college football.
I guess special people just have a way of finding each other.
