LSU Tigers head coach Ed Orgeron is celebrating his team’s national championship win against the Clemson Tigers, but he’ll quickly be back to work.

LSU football and Ed Orgeron certainly have a lot to celebrate after their 42-25 win against the Clemson Tigers in the College Football Playoff championship game on Monday night.

But while the celebration will certainly endure through this week, it won’t last much longer than that.

At least not for Orgeron.

Coach O is one of the happiest men in the state of Louisiana after leading the Tigers to their first national championship in 12 years.

But he also knows it’ll be time to get back to work this weekend. It’s a recruiting weekend, after all.

Orgeron knows that in order to keep LSU competing for championships, he’ll have to continue to recruit at an elite level.

Winning a national championship will certainly make landing elite players a bit easier, but recruiting is still all about relationships.

And Coach O is a master at crafting those relationships.

He’ll have to craft quite a few new ones in order to replace some of the production LSU is losing.

All-world quarterback Joe Burrow is heading to the NFL. Junior wide receiver Justin Jefferson will likely follow him. Linebacker Patrick Queen is another player who could skip his final year of eligibility to head to the NFL.

(Queen said on Tuesday he hasn’t made a decision yet.)

LSU currently has the No. 5 ranked 2020 recruiting class in the nation. I’m sure Orgeron will be hard at work this weekend trying to improve the 2020 and also the 2021 classes.
