LSU football is undergoing plenty of change after winning the national championship earlier this week.

On Tuesday evening, it was mentioned by Sports Illustrated’s Ross Dellenger that LSU football defensive coordinator Dave Aranda could be name to watch for Hawaii’s vacant head coaching job.

Aranda spent four seasons at Hawaii, so it’s a natural fit.

But it’s also not a Power-5 school, so it’s possible Aranda could hold out for a better gig.

Unfortunately for LSU, there’s a Power-5 program that might be interested in Aranda.

According to ESPN’s Adam Rittenberger, Aranda’s name has been mentioned in connection to the Baylor head coaching job left vacant by Matt Rhule.

The good news for LSU is that Aranda doesn’t appear to be at the top of Baylor’s list. Rittenberger says Virginia Tech head coach Justin Fuente is a “strong candidate” to replace Rhule.

It’s obvious that Aranda is destined to be a head coach — especially with a national championship on his resumé.

Heading to Baylor would make some sense, too.

Aranda spent time in the state of Texas as a grad assistant at Texas Tech from 1999-01, so he’s familiar with the area. Landing at Baylor would also give him a chance to go against his college roommate, Texas head coach Tom Herman, on a yearly basis.

I could see Aranda turning down an offer from Hawaii to stay at LSU, but it’s hard to imagine him turning down an offer from Baylor.

This is what happens when you put together a championship level staff. But if Aranda leaves, I’m sure Coach O won’t have any problem finding a quality defensive coordinator to take his place.
